Finding your serenity with self-care
Being a teen can be stressful. Having to keep on top of your endless piles of homework, finding the time to study for extra curricular activities and still trying to maintain healthy mental well-being. Going into high school and teenage life, we develop overwhelming thoughts of self doubt and anxiety, and the levels of stress only developed and worsen as time goes on, especially when many teens haven't set up healthy well-being patterns or routines.
I was lucky enough to have been introduced to the importance of self-care from an early age, so I have grown up learning different ways to help cope with the stresses everyday throws at me. When we face these emotions, we tend to surround ourselves in negativity and overwhelm, and it can mess with our mental states. Being in states like this can be hard to get out of, but learning how to overcome them can benefit and make life easier for now and in the future.
Here are some ways that help me cope with feelings of stress:
Journaling - This is a great positive outlet and is perfect for looking back, moving forward and helps with positive reflection.
Yoga - It helps you be more aware and connected with both your mind and body, and uses movement to release nerves.
Meditation or breathing exercises - They're both good ways relax and help you be calm and present.
It is important to start healthy living patterns as a teen, so as you grow up you can learn the importance of looking after your mental health.
